Dapper & The Art Of Cape Town

Cape Town was one of the destinations in South Africa he was most looking forward to visiting. During his road trip he travelled through amazing towns such as Clarens, Knysna and Stellenbosch but it was Cape Town that had wet his appetite the most.

On an Instagram feed, he had seen that the Southern Guild Gallery, situated in the artsy district of Woodstock, was exhibiting a collection of pieces by creative director turned artist, Porky Hefer. As soon as he stepped into the gallery he was in awe of the ‘nest environments’. The Monstera Deliciosa exhibition was a collection of animal-shaped chairs carefully and masterfully crafted from different fabrics and fibres.

Hungry to explore more of South African art, dapper asked the staff for where to go next and was guided to the Stevenson Gallery. There he was introduced to the oil paintings of Meleko Mokgosi. It was a perfect introduction to the city which offered much more than great food, wine and surfing. He felt inspired. The colours of the city buildings, along with the diversity in the colour of people, as well as the styles in fashion, was truly heartwarming.

It was going to be the beginning of an exciting time in Cape Town.
